The Shortest History of Germany

A country both admired and feared, Germany has been the epicenter of world events time and again. From the Reformation to both World Wars and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Today Germany is the fourth largest economy and a standard-bearer of liberal democracy and as Dr. James Hawes writes in the introduction of his book ‘The Shortest History of Germany’:

“There is no point studying the past unless it sheds some light on the present.”

In this livestream Hawes tells us the history of Germany in roughly 60 minutes through maps, diagrams and pictures.

45-60 minutes presentation and 15 minutes Q&A. Moderated by Noa Kjærsgaard Hansen.
